just another day
felt very lazy today and with that, I accomplished just this side of nothing. Went to BestBuy to get some blank CD’s, but they were super busy so I went next door to Staples instead. picked up some photo paper, CD’s and this real cool paper cutting thing a bob. I hope it works well.
After that, drove up to the Ortega hwy to again search for that all elusive perfect photo spot. I think I have found the best that I can. Nice big spot right on a cliff that over looks the whole valley. The only problem is that it slants up, so getting a shot of MINI’s with the lake as a backdrop is going to require a ladder. I hope I can find one that I can carry in Roxy. Did see a MINI today at least, VR/B even! Very sexy looking, but I’m still glad that Roxy has a white roof. You know what they say, and MINI without a white top is like a Ferrari that isn’t red.
today’s adventure
Calico Ghost Town…located just a few miles from Barstow, Ca. It’s a completely restored silver mining town that during the 1800′s produced milllions of dollars of silver! pretty cool. I haven’t been in a while and appearantly there was a big fire that burned down a big chunk of the town. it has since been rebuilt and it looks awesome. Went up there to hang out with the folks a bit on their way to SoCal to do some beach side camping at Bolsa Chica State Beach. Here’s a pic of Mom & Dad’s rig too:
Pretty slick IMO. The truck is pretty trick. ’92 Ford F350 with the full BANKS turbo kit (turbo, chip, exhaust and transmission enhancements). She goes like a raped ape and pulls out 20MPG doing it! The trailer is the first one in the family that Dad got for a song. Oh yea, the MINI? Yea, that’s Roxy. And, here is a pic of the ‘original’ Mini:

So, my MINI sightings go in spurts…I’ll have dry spells where I won’t see another MINI besides Roxy until the next SCMM meet. Then there are times, like today, when I see a whole bunch of MINI’s. today I saw a vr/b, pw/b and ly/b MC and an all black MCS with chrome wheels! very very slick. I’m going to have to tell my pal clover about that one.
Otherwise this has got to have been the longest week that I can remember. I totally got my assed kicked at work, and nothing was working the way it was supposed to! ugh.
I did manage to drive the dp to temecula run 1 more time (heretofor known as the ‘Sunday Drive’), found a good spot for pics and parking in old town temecula. Next weekend, should be a ball.
Tomorrow going out to see mom and dad as they camp at calico ghost town, which is right outside of barstow. I haven’t been in over 10 years, but c’mon…really…it’s a ghost town right? how much could it have really changed? still, should be fun
