db’s driving tip for the week
this is a repeat from a post at wft, but I think it’s time.

Ok gang, go out to your car now and look BEHIND the steering wheel on the steering column. pass special attention the left side of the column. Go ahead, I’ll wait…..

Ok, you know that there is a lever right there on the left side of the steering column, directly behind the steering wheel, right? you did see that? can anyone in the class tell us what that is? Cruise control controls? possibly, but not what I’m looking for. Windscreen wiper controls? could be, but again, not the right answer.

The correct answer is turn signals, aka directionals. Please note that when this lever is depressed, lights located at the drivers side front and rear flash. When lifted, passenger side front and rear lights flash. This flashing is to indicate to other drivers that you intend to make a change in direction, depending on which side is flashing.

Use this when making a turn at an intersection or when making a lane change on a multi-lane road or highway. That way, when you do make a course correction, all the drivers around you know about it and won’t yell, scream, flash their lights, honk their horn or give you the finger when you suddenly decide to change lanes.

Realize too that in order to be able to properly use the turn signals, you are going to have put the cell phone down, but I’ll save that one for another time, next week perhaps?

As always, that you for your time :D

Brakes? already?
Driving to work today and I started to hear the beginning of the brakes getting down to the squeakers! only 26K miles too. does that sound right to any of you? I’m due for service next week and I’m going to have them looked at anyway. it could be my driving style too ;) hehe

harness update
so I’ve been living with the Schroth Racing Harness for a few days now. While I don’t think I would actually use it on a day to day basis, the amount of added control it allows me is really awesome! Lateral movement in the seat around corners is GREATLY reduced, back and forth movement on launch/stop is all but elimated, and there is no flying out of the seat on rougher roads! I’m going to play with the adjustments and live with it for a few more days before heading out to Pahrump.

and, by the way, it really is almost October!

harness install
Using the spiffy guide assembled by Brad and Les, installed the schroth harness this morning! Installation only took about 20 minutes or so and was pretty simple to complete. I’ll post a pic later.

And, since I had the back seat out, I went ahead and cleaned all the crud and junk that has accumulated there over the past 25K+ miles. Not that bad, but I was there.

Will do a test on some twisties today and report back
