This from Miles, who just recently installed a rSpeed exhaust on his LY MC:
I had the exhaust installed, and it sounded amazing. In fact, I still find myself turning off the radio and just listening to my exhaust because I love the sound so much. Since it has been installed, I went back and forth with Peter (who is no longer with Rspeed) about a rattle that I was getting from the rear of the car, due to the hangers banging against the heat shields. I was never able to get it completely resolved until recently.
About two weeks ago, I emailed Peter about the problem, asking him if there were any last things he would suggest, because the rattling was starting to get old. About 15 minutes later, I got a phone call from Joe, the guy who handles all the development these days for Rspeed. He proceeded to tell me that Peter wasnt there anymore, and that he wanted to do anything he could to help me out. After asking me a few questions, Joe determined that there might be an issue with the fact that my Cooper is an early build, and apparently they dont usually recommend this exhaust for the earlier builds. Joe apologized, but it certainly wasnt his fault since Peter failed to mention that to me in the beginning.
Joe was awesome. We continued to talk, and he offered to pay for me to take it to a high-end muffler shop to get it looked at and fixed. He said hed reimburse me for all costs and labor. As if that wasnt enough, he added that if that didnt work, he would be happy to take it back for a full refund! I was floored at the outright amazing customer service Joe was displaying. After our conversation, I took it to a shop, and their synopsis was basically that it doesnt fit. I notified Joe, and he is having me ship the exhaust back for a refund.
Even though the exhaust ultimately didnt fit the car, I now have tremendous respect for Rspeed, and will continue to buy from them in the future. Joe demonstrated the type of customer service that every company should look at to model. I will also add that if this exhaust did fit my car, I would definitely have kept it, its a great exhaust for those of you looking for one (at least those of you without an early build Cooper).
I just thought it would be nice to give the guys over at rSpeed some props where props are quite obviously due! Nice work fellas!
Oh relax, it’s not mine!
Brad found this one. It would seem that VR is now considered ‘limited edition’. I’ll just stick with ‘rare’ thankyouverymuch :D
According to this article at SpeedArena.com:
SCCA Pro Racing Ltd. announced today that a rule prohibiting forced induction in its SPEED Touring Car Championship will be lifted, meaning turbocharged and supercharged vehicles will be eligible for competition in 2005. It marks the most significant rule change since the series was restructured in 1999 with partner SPEED Channel.
In a bulletin distributed to teams, the program, which will begin with forced induction cars eligible for practice sessions later this year, opens the door for a number of new models to compete in the series, which has been naturally aspirated up until this point.
As the North American automotive marketplace shifts, it is important to the continued growth of World Challenge that the GT and Touring Car classes continue to evolve to remain i n s tep with industry trends and the market, the bulletin, distributed by SCCA Pro Racing as a whole said. With the introduction of Forced Induction by many auto manufacturers in their sport compact lineup, SCCA Pro Racing believes that it is appropriate to introduce this technology into the SCCA SPEED World Challenge Touring Car Championship to ensure that the series continues to produce racing that is relevant and accessible to teams, sponsors, consumers and race fans. (more…)
This is some great news for you MCS owners!
…and this morning, it has decided to start working again? I’ll keep an eye on it.
On the mod front, got the first part of Roxy’s suspension mods. 1 set of Eibach lowering springs (thanks Mikey!). Just need to pick up a rear sway bar and I’ll be all set.
Also, cruised by the new Autobacs store in Stanton on Saturday with some SCMM members (pics will come later). This place was HUGE! Looks like they just opened very recently too. Lots of kick-ass Audio/Video gear, the entire line of Meguair’s NXT and a nice selection of wheels and tires. Pricing was fair. Not many performance parts of the MINI, yet, but I have a feeling that will change soon. If you get in the area, it’s definitely worth checking out!
hmmm…today must have been a good day for glitches. First, my passenger side window, then a demo cabriolet top motor overheats at a demo.
They say these things come in three’s. Could this guy been it? There is a moral to that story too…if you drink then drive your MINI, you will be properly ejected.
