A Flat!

Man, I really hate this:

On a Sunday no less. I think I ran over something pretty major too. When there is air in it, you can actually hear it leaking out.

Not to worry, the good lads at Americas/Discount Tire have me covered. When I bought these tires (Kumho Ecsta ASX) I paid a few extra bucks to get the good warranty from them. That means that if a tire goes bad and they can’t fix it, they replace it for free! Well, not quite free since I have to pay tax and the fees that go with, but I don’t have to pay for the tire.

And since these tires already have about 15K miles on them, I’m having them replace to keep the wear even. The last thing I want is to have 1 tire not wearing out like the others.

Got this one this morning from Robert in Toronto.

The Bugatti Veyron. One of the most drool-a-rific cars ever built.

Also, one of the fastest. 1,001 horsepower.

Top speed of 253 MPH.

What? You don’t believe me?

It’s time to get Roxy ready for Summer. With 154k miles (yes, you read that correctly), I need to get a few things done, or do them myself.

  • Radiator flush and fill. I could have the service dept. do this, but I’m afraid they would want to charge me over $200 and I really don’t think it would take more than an hour in my driveway, plus drive time to dispose of the old coolant. Has anyone done this?
  • Seat covers. This one I’m going to have to do soon before the hole that has developed in the driver seat gets any larger.
  • Wiring harness. No choice but to have the service dept. do this. Last time I had Roxy in they told me it needed to be replaced, and just this week I got the dreaded DSC and Flat Tire warning lights (DSC was on and my tire pressure is perfect). I’m going to try to wait until after MINI United to do this one.
  • Plug wires. I ditched the OEM wires at the same time as when I put in the K&N intake, about 120K miles ago. I think it’s time to order up a new set. Oh yea, in case anyone is wondering, you can get about 140K miles out of the factory plugs.

Finally on the latest greatest version of WordPress. Only took me 6 months to get it done.

Figured, since I was here that I’d freshen up the look a bit too.

Some things might still be wonky, but I’m workin’ on ‘em.

WRR Special Announcement

Posted in General — by db on 04/23/07

We’ve been leading up to this for the last few weeks. Finally it’s time to fill you in on what’s going on.

MINI has selected White Roof Radio to be the Official Podcast of MINI United 2007! We have been invited to Amsterdam to cover the event live, as it happens!

Todd and I will be traveling to Amsterdam, Netherlands in late June and spend the entire weekend at the event. Gabe will be there, but starting from Germany for some time on the ‘ring and traveling with a local club to the event. You can expect updates to happen multiple times per day and almost live, much the same way we covered MTTS. Of course, all of those posts will be showing up here, Motoringfile and the MINI United blog, where Gabe and I will also be posting during and before the event.

Something new for Whiteroofradio and Motoringfile will be the possible edition of video. Gabe has a hot new camera that he will be testing at this years Dragon and he will also be bringing it along to MINI United.

This is something that has been in the planning stages since AMVIV and we have had to sit on it until now. To say we are excited is a bit of an understatement! I was very proud to hear that MINI enjoyed our MTTS coverage so much that they wanted the same thing for MINI United! I would also like to thank MINI for giving us the opportunity to show the rest of the world what the power of Podcasting is capable of!

It’s going to be a great event gang! We encourage everyone to go over to the MINI United 2007 site and sign up. If you are in the States, be sure to check out MINIUSA.com for information and some special events if you would like to go.

Check back later this morning for our first interview with Shawn Ticehurst from MINI about the event!
