Missing a piece

Yea, hitting 156K miles isn’t all wine and roses. Little things happen.

For example: roxy

Lost the front piece during AMVIV. I remember it like it was yesterday [cue dream sequence music]

Had to make a run for water, lunch and a quick meet up with my Mom up in Henderson, which was about 20 miles or so from the Palace Station casino. Also, Roxy was pretty dirty and I knew there was a pretty ok car wash near where I was going.

Got to the car wash, which was extremely busy since it was a Saturday and waited in line like everyone else. Yes, I know, gasp and shock, db washes his car at a car wash! Don’t worry, for I, and Roxy, are very well trained in the art of the car wash tunnel. Why do you think she looks so good all the time. I work for a car wash company, remember?

Roxy goes in and comes out. Mom comes by and we chat for a bit. Roxy is done, Mom leaves, I go off in search of water, lunch and cigars. Oh yea, I forgot to mention the cigars.

Get back to Palace Station and that when I noticed it missing.

To be completely fair, that piece has been loose for close to 6 months and I’m honestly amazed that it didn’t fall off sooner. I don’t blame the car wash at all. It might have fallen off on the drive up and I just didn’t notice.

So, for the last few months, I’ve gone ghetto. I think it makes her look a little tougher tho, so I haven’t worried about. Bonus, just found out that J/C has an extra piece lying around that he’ll probably let go for a song (or, at the very least, a good bottle of beer)!

Now, to get to an SCMM meet…

Travel Plans

With only 30 days left, I thought it might be a good idea to hammer out the travel details:

travel

So, for those of you that are interested, Todd and I will be in London on June 19th, heading over to Oxford to tour the plant that afternoon. Then we’ll check out the city and whatnot on June 20th and head over to Amsterdam on Thursday, June 21st to start getting ready and get everything setup.

Any WRR listeners in London have suggestions for a good pub in Kensington?

Gas Prices

That’s what I paid last week. It has since gone down a few pennies, but still.

I’m not really sure about the rest of you (except Gabe), but I’m getting pretty tired putting $40+ worth of fuel in my tank twice a week.

I don’t think it does any good to complain either. I mean, I feel a little better, but it doesn’t do any good. I also don’t think the ‘don’t buy gas on [enter date]‘ works either. That especially, more than anything, hurts the retailers, not the oil companies. They have already been paid for the fuel in the tanks. Why would they care, right?

Heres the problem with the price of gas.

Gas has no competition.

Before you that live in the Bay Area, New York, Chicago or one of the other handful of cities that have better than average public transportation say anything, please keep in mind that you are an oddball for the most part. The majority of us don’t have decent public transportation available, so that rules it out for competition.

There are hybrids. Lots of ‘em here in CA too. Yet the price of gas keeps going up and up and up.

The promise of electric cars might help, but at about $60KUS for them, I doubt it.

So, before the price drops, we either need to seriously change our driving habits to reduce our useage so much that the oil companies will be forced to lower prices to get people to drive again (yea, that’s not going to happen, is it Mr. and Mrs. SUV driver?) or someone needs to come up with a reliable, inexpensive replacement for gasoline.

I really don’t see that happening either anytime soon.

I know you have to have thoughts about this. Comment away. I’m very curious to see what all y’all think.
