I was finally able to get comment spam under control, but it has been replaced with trackback and ping back spam.
Trackbacks have been permanently disable for the next few days. When I bring them back, they will be moderated.

It took me about a week to delete about 60 of those damn things. The tedious part was finding where they were and locking those posts individually.
