I’ve been calls all weekend about the R56 and due to prior obligations, I haven’t been able to see one yet. Here is what I’m gathering (again, from what I have heard).
- The S goes great!
- The Cooper with an automatic still has a bit of grunt
- No matter how you slice it, the center stack looks cheap
- The new seats, telescopic wheel and other interior bits are very nice
- Sparkling Silver looks great in person (although Todd still says he is 30 years to young for that color)
- Mellow Yellow looks great

Sparkling Silver looks okay to me. My wife really liked it (and you know she’s a bit younger than me). Of course, this was last night at South Bay so the light was different.
All in all, I’m satisfied with what MINI has done.
Oh, I really liked the Laser Blue they had on display but will go without the Hammer & Coop Lighning Bolt graphics.

Popped in to the MINI dealership close to my job (not where I’m buying my R56 MCS) and took a look at the three S models they had. Very nice beefy look to the front end. I like the grill better than the slats. That would have been my first mod if I had gone for the 2006. The seats are comfortable and I’m glad I went with the cloth, looks great and seems like it will hold up. I’m getting Dark Silver (I know db, a million of ’em in SoCal) with the black roof and stripes. This friday is the East Bay MINI rollout and I’ll be there too, it’s where I’m buying at MSRP. Very happy with the 2007.
