Juan has got a brilliant idea here. From his site:
As a teacher in a high crime/high poverty community in Los Angeles County, I come into contact with families from some of the more impoverished homes in Southern California. Many of you, perhaps, live close to, or work near, other similar neighborhoods. I need not delve into the “problems” inherent to these enclaves.
No matter your religious background, or lack thereof, we all understand that children all around SoCal are hoping for toys this holiday season.
What I would like to propose is a Toys For Tots ( http://www.toysfortots-socal.org/2003/index.asp ) drive/outing.
Anyway, sounds like an awesome idea to me.
