Yet, it’s about time I say…
Yesterday, in a ceremony in Oakland, California, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed into law a bill that would make driving while operating a mobile phone illegal on California roadways.
Of course, use of a hands-free device is exempt.
Man, this is going to make the OC rich again!
But will anyone care? I read the fine was $25 for a first offence and $50 for subsequent ones? Not even a tank of gas, these days. I do say though that it would be great if it worked.
Can you be pulled over *just* for talking on the phone? Or will it have to be part of an additional offense?
I am pretty sure you can be pulled over if you have a phone to your ear. That’s how it read to me anyway.
Over , here in Greece we have had that law as long as cell phones have been around, you just learn to keep an eye out for the police, and drop the phone down as you pass them!
Now if we could only do somthing about those helmt-less, unlicensed motorcyclists!
