Geek time

I realized tonight that I haven’t geeked out in a while.

Lets go to the logs!!!!!

It has recently come to my attention that many visitors to dbmini are not running the most up-to-date versions of your web browser. I can’t name names, but there are quite a few of you windows users that are still running:

  • Netscape Navigator, version 4.X
  • Firefox version .01X
  • MS Internet Explorer version 4.x and 5.x

While I am sure you have your reasons for not upgrading (you poor souls still on Windows 95, I understand), this is something you should take care of sooner than later.

If you are running Windows NT 4.0, 98, 98SE, ME, 2000 or XP, and insist on using Internet Explorer, you really should upgrade to version 6.0 with all updates and patches.

If you are one of the few, the proud, the Netscape 4.x users, what are you doing? I can’t even begin to image how painful your surfing experience must be as I’m pretty sure that even dbmini doesn’t render quite right. Really, time to upgrade.

And all of you Firefox users should be taking advantage of the newest features (and bug fixes) in version 1.5.

Not sure what version you have? On any browswer, click on Help –> About. It will tell you right there.

Or, as I’m sure someone will point out, Just get a Mac. :)

  1. Yeah, but we’re a good, happy, *enlightened* herd, db! Not like you evil, grumpy, ignorant (er, no, that’s not right; intolerant? uneducated? closed-minded? damn, this isn’t coming out right…) Windows users. ;-)

  2. Alright Mac heads back off… I’ve GOT a Mac and sorry, I’m not a convert to the Cult of Jobs… (of course I’m typing this on the Mac but that’s a different story…)

I will say this though, the iBook gets killer battery life. I watched Minority Report on a cross country flight and still had about an hour left on the battery. I’ve never seen a Windows laptop do that…

But I still find myself regularly needing to jump back tot he PC because of somethat the Mac doesn’t want to render properly or something…
